Ever since covid hit back in 2021 and weddings being postponed or worse cancelled, a lot of people have chosen to go smaller with their celebrations, or throw a party at home - which im absolutely living for.

Choosing to have your celebrations at home can have numerous benefits, from cost, through to having your home comforts at hand... it gives you chance to have your special day at a property that has special meaning to you both, it could be your own home or one of a loved one it all adds up to making it a more personal experience. So what things should you consider if you're planning to have your celebrations at home? Here's some advice from someone who's been involved in many over the past 12 years of wedding photography:

1. Plan ahead: Hosting a wedding at home requires a lot of planning and preparation. Start early and make a detailed timeline to ensure everything is in place before the big day.

2. Consider the space: Before deciding to have a wedding at home, make sure your space is suitable for hosting a large number of guests. Consider the layout, parking availability, and any potential noise restrictions in your neighborhood.

3. Get necessary permits: Depending on your location, you may need to obtain permits for hosting a wedding at home. Check with your local government to see if any permits are required and make sure to obtain them in advance.

4. Hire professionals: While it may be tempting to save money by doing everything yourself, it's important to hire professionals for certain aspects of the wedding, such as catering, photography, and music. This will ensure a smooth and stress-free event.
