Most parents come into a newborn session feeling a mix of excitement and nerves. You’ve probably not slept much, everything feels new, and there’s a quiet pressure to hope your baby behaves a certain way.

Let me say this first: there’s no such thing as a “good” or “bad” newborn session.

A newborn session with me is slow, flexible, and completely baby-led. There’s no expectation for your baby to sleep, to pose, or to do anything on cue. Babies do what babies do, and the session works around that. I don’t rush newborn sessions. That’s intentional. Those early days are intense enough without feeling like you’re on a clock. The aim is to create a calm environment where everyone can breathe a little.

We take breaks whenever they’re needed. Feeding, changing, cuddling, settling, all of it is part of the session, not an interruption to it. Some sessions are calm and sleepy, others are more alert and wriggly. Both tell a story worth remembering.

Some sessions are quiet and sleepy. Others are more awake and alert. add a toddler into the mix and they can be absolute carnage... but all are equally valid and equally meaningful.

What you wear matters far less than how comfortable you feel. Neutral, simple clothing usually works well, but the most important thing is that you feel like yourself. There’s no need to overthink it, if youd like a bit of guidance - not a problem, I'm here to help achieve what YOU want.

If your baby cries, that’s okay. If they stay awake the whole time, that’s okay too. The session adapts to them, not the other way around.

Most parents tell me afterwards that the session felt calmer than they expected. That’s always the goal. These photos aren’t just about creating images, they’re about giving you a gentle pause during a very full season of life.

If you’re expecting and wondering whether a newborn session will be stressful, I hope this reassures you. It’s designed to feel supportive, not overwhelming.

I photograph newborn sessions in a relaxed, baby-led way in Boston, Lincolnshire and surrounding areas. If you have questions or want more details, feel free to get in touch.
